What we are learning . . . .
Music:
Performing comes naturally for some people, but most of us need to develop performance skills. We will discuss what a performance is and prepare to share some of the fun music we've been singing for you, as well as have some Halloween song fun! Happy Halloween!
Creative Movement:
It’s almost show time! We will be practicing for our performance on Friday!
Art:
We will be finishing up our backdrop and Jack-O-Lanterns for our show. We finish our meet the masters study of Vincent Van Gogh as we take a look at his “Starry Starry Night Painting” and try to create a similar sky for the background of our show. We can’t wait for you to see it!
Math:
This week we will be counting and sorting ghosts, bats, pumpkins, candy corn, witches and having all sorts of Halloween fun! We will measure how tall we are using pumpkins and yarn.
Language Arts:
Learning to recognize letters, identify the sound they make and write each letter correctly takes a lot of consistent practice. We will trace the letters we have learned in orange Halloween goop to help learn letter formation. Every day we feed our hungry crocodile. He is so picky! He will only eat things that begin with the letter of the week! We will read the poem “Five Little Pumpkins” and learn that when we read words we start at the top and read left to right.
Science:
This week we will be up to our elbows in weird science! We will make some green slime called and a strange substance called oobleck. Is it a liquid or solid? We will have to do some experiments to find out!
Character Trait - Respect:
We will continue to focus on showing respect for ourselves, our friends, our teachers, and our toys. We are working hard to be “first time listeners” and show respect to our class and teachers. Showing respect to property means treating things gently so they won’t break. Showing respect to friends includes not taking something from another person’s hands and using our kind words and voice.
